CLEVELAND, OH (92.3 THE FAN) - The Cleveland Guardians rotation for 2023 is looking clearer, as the team has avoided arbitration and will bring back pitcher Zach Plesac for 2.95 million, according to Robert Murray of Fansided.com.

Plesac has spent four seasons with Cleveland. Last season was a slight improvement over his 2021 campaign.

The right-hander started 24 games in 2022, with a 4.31 ERA and a 6.84 strikeout per nine innings. In 2021 with 25 starts Plesac posted a 4.67 ERA and a 6.31 strikeout per nine innings

Despite tying a career high in games pitched, the 27-year-old recorded his lowest win total of his career with just three wins.

Though a fifth starter, the Guardians did not provide much run support in Plesac starts. The offense scored 42 runs in 131.2 innings pitched an average of 2.87 per nine.

The 2016 12th round pick did not have a fully healthy year, he suffered a right fifth metacarpal fracture which kept him out the month of September.

The Guardians expected rotation for 2023 is Shane Bieber, Triston McKenzie, Cal Quantrill, Aaron Civale and Zach Plesac.
