CLEVELAND, Ohio – Indians first baseman Carlos Santana has never been an All-Star, but the 33-year-old has put himself in a position to change that this season.
Santana is one of the three finalists to start at first base for the American League in the All-Star Game.
He entered Friday with a .292 batting average, 15 home runs and 44 RBI. His leads the Indians with a .943 OPS. He hit his homer No. 16 on Friday night shortly after Major League Baseball made the announcement.

The top three vote-getters at each position (top nine outfielders) in the American and National leagues advance to the Election Day vote on June 26 that will determine the starters for the July 9 All-Star Game at Progressive Field.
Francisco Lindor didn't make the final three at shortstop, despite a late push on social media. Lindor finished fourth in the voting, 13,264 votes behind Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres. Jorge Polanco of the Twins and Carlos Correa of the Astros were the other two finalists.
Lindor entered Friday's game with a .293 batting average, 12 home runs and 26 RBI on the season. He can still make the All-Star team, but he won't start in the game on July 9.
