CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) - Cleveland Indians outfielder Daniel Johnson has been recalled from the team alternative site and will start in right field for Saturday in Chicago.
Johnson, who is expected to lead off for the Tribe, will fill in for Franmil Reyes, who was placed on the club's paternity list.
The 25-year-old Johnson was sent to Cleveland's alternate camp in March despite hitting .368 with two home runs and four RBI in 19 spring training Cactus League at-bats.
Johnson saw limited time in the majors in 2020, recording one hit in 1 at-bats.
Reyes, who will be able to remain on the paternity list for 1-3 days following the birth of his child, is currently leading Cleveland in batting average (.279) and runs batted in (18), along with seven home runs over 23 games played.
The Indians are set to take on the White Sox in a 4:05pm E.T. first pitch start at Guaranteed Rate Field. Triston McKenzie (0-0, 4.32) is set to start against Sox right-hander Lance Lynn (1-1, 0.92).
