PHOENIX, Arizona (92.3 The Fan) - The Cleveland Indians closed out their 2021 spring training campaign with a 3-2 setback to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Indians got off to a good start in the first two frames of Tuesday's game at Chase Field, with Jose Ramirez hitting a first-inning home run and Jake Bauers going yard in the second.


Cleveland starter Aaron Civale, in his final start of the spring, pitched 4.1 innings with five hits and a run allowed (on Josh Roja's fourth-inning RBI single, along with a walk and two strikeouts.

While the Tribe led the majority of the game, however, the D-Backs responded with two scores in the bottom of the eighth, with Jake McCarthy roping a two-run double to score Tim Locastro and Wyatt Mathisen off losing pitcher Trevor Stephan (1.0 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, K).

With spring prep completed, the Indians will now travel to Detroit for thing weekend's regular season-opening series against the Tigers. Shane Bieber, the reigning American League Cy Young winner, will start the opener against Detroit's Matthew Boyd.
