SCOTTSDALE, Arizona (92.3 The Fan) - A three-run second inning and a four-run eighth were enough for the Colorado Rockies to down the Cleveland Indians 9-4 in Friday's Cactus League outing.
The Rockies struck first against Tribe starter Aaron Civale (4.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R (3 ER), BB, 3 K's) with a C.J. Cron RBI triple and a 2-run home run by Sam Hilliard.
Cleveland cut into that lead in the following frame, however, with Cesar Hernandez roping a run-scoring single and Eddie Rosario recording a sacrifice fly, cutting the lead to 3-2. In the bottom of the 3rd, an error by first baseman Jake Bauers allowed Rox second baseman Ryan McMahon to score on a Charlie Blackmon grounder.
The Indians also got a Roberto Perez solo homer in the top of the fourth, but Colorado responded with a Dom Nunez home run in the 7th inning, and four runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Cleveland's last offensive gap came in the top of the 9th on a Franmil Reyes 413-foot-long home run over the left field wall.
The Indians have now lost four in a row and will ake on he Chicago White Sox on Saturday, with a 4:05 p.m. E.T. start.
