The 2024 NLCS kicks off with Game 1 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets on Sunday, featuring some of the brightest stars in baseball. With BetMGM offering enticing odds on player props, I’ve selected the top bets to watch. From Mookie Betts looking to continue his hot streak to Shohei Ohtani’s power at the plate, we dive into key players for this high-stakes matchup. Check out the best player prop picks and betting insights for Game 1 of the NLCS.
Dodgers RF Mookie Betts Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI (-120)
Betts has gone 3-for-3 with a HR against Mets starter Kodai Senga and finished the last series against the Padres with two homers in his last three games. Hitting leadoff for the Dodgers pretty much guarantees that he will see quality pitches to hit and when he gets on base, he will have pretty much the best opportunity possible to score with guys like Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, among other stars, behind him.
Mets SP Kodai Senga Over 2.5 Strikeouts (-110)
Senga only threw 31 pitches before he was pulled for David Peterson in his first start of the postseason and managed three strikeouts in that span. While there are major question marks about whether he will be an opener or a traditional starter in this one, since this will be his third appearance of the entire 2024 season due to an injury, I think we’re going to see a longer leash for him in this matchup, even up to twice through the order if he’s operating effectively. Remember that Senga recorded an elite 29.1% strikeout rate during his rookie season so if he sees a few innings of work, he should be able to cruise past this number, even against an elite Dodgers lineup.
Mets OF Jesse Winker to Record Over 0.5 Hits (-110)
While Winker is a pinch hit risk, I think this is a decent price to get on him to simply record a hit. He’s gone 8-for-21 (.381) lifetime against Dodgers starter Jack Flaherty, including two homers, and has only struck out three times with three walks against him as well. Therefore, he seemingly has tracked the ball well out of Flaherty’s hand in the past and I’m willing to take a shot on this.
Dodgers DH Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases (+100)
He’s the best player in the world and all we need him to do is hit a double. Or two singles. Or a homer. You get the drill. We’re going to get at least four at-bats against him and we can double our money since his price reflects the fact that he failed to accomplish this feat four straight times against the Padres last series. A buy low spot on Shohei? Sign me up!
Mets SS Francisco Lindor Over 0.5 Walks (+150)
Lindor has recorded at least one walk in four of his seven postseason games, including multiple walks twice. He’s extremely locked-in at the dish right now and I also predict that we’re going to see Dodgers pitchers throw around him since he’s not protected by the type of guys that are in Los Angeles’ lineup. Like Ohtani above, we’re getting such a great price on this because he failed to draw a walk in three consecutive games heading into this one.
