The lofty comparisons keep coming for Brock Purdy. Two-time 49ers Super Bowl champion defensive back Darryl Pollard joined Steiny and Guru and was the latest to liken Purdy's game to one of the all-time greats.

Pollard, while talking about Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers offense said, “He’s putting the pieces where he wants and he’s got a really good quarterback in Purdy, who reminds me a lot of Joe (Montana), how he just kind of sits back there calm, cool and collected.”

Pollard won Super Bowl's with the 49ers in 1988 and 1989 but remains in contact with those who played with Montana in the early days and witnessed his development from the beginning.

"I'm in a group text with all the old DB's who watched the development of Joe (Montana) and this is exactly how Joe became who he became. Montana & Purdy are guys with a lot of skill, intelligence. Brock's a sponge, but he's not a know-it-all."

Pollard added, "Shanahan was forcing both Jimmy and Lance to play ahead of their game. Instead of mixing oil and vinegar, Kyle's now mixing sugar and water. The sweetness is what we're seeing with Brock Purdy."
