A return to normalcy? Week 10 wasn’t quite that—there was still plenty to infuriate us with a number of big favorites going down (the Rams, Ravens and Bucs all decided to take the week off). But, in what many would consider the wildest NFL season of our lifetime (or at least since 2020), Week 10 was a welcome reversion to the mean, with Patrick Mahomes returning to MVP form, a resurgent Christian McCaffrey making it through four quarters without his bones disintegrating, a fresh coat of snow in Green Bay, the Bills picking themselves off the mat after a rare lapse in Jacksonville and, as nature intended, the Patriots beating the absolute tar out of Cleveland.
Wait, there’s more! The Cowboys, a week after getting dunked on by Teddy Bridgewater, of all people, rose from the dead by laying a 40-burger on the hapless Falcons, Cam Newton reminded us he’s a red-zone god (with spectacular hair) and Colt McCoy, following an oddly competent Week 9, promptly turned to dust, returning the universe to its natural order. The unhinged chaos of an NFL Sunday is, admittedly, part of the sport’s charm, but as fun as it is to see the D’Ernest Johnsons and Matt Breidas of the world set the slate on fire, sometimes, for the sake of everyone’s collective sanity, it’s fun to play the hits.
