The Mets have seemingly begun their sell-off with the trade of David Robertson, and according to Mark Feinsand, one of their Hall of Fame aces could be on the move as well.

Per the MLB.com insider Feinsand, there is “growing belief” across MLB that Justin Verlander could be traded by Tuesday’s deadline, as the Mets continue to look to the future amid an all-time disappointing season that sees them seven games out of a playoff spot.

Verlander, a three-time Cy Young winner, signed a two-year, $86.6 million deal this past offseason, and does have a full no-trade clause in his deal, so any trade would have to be approved by the righty.

Feinsand reports that a “frontrunner” for Verlander would be the Rangers, who played a part in the Mets acquiring Verlander in the first place when they signed former Met Jacob deGrom to a five-year deal, leading New York to go after Verlander to fill deGrom’s spot in the rotation.
