Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) - Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona did not travel with the team to Pittsburgh for this week's series against the Pirates, and the skipper will miss the entirety of the roadstand to undergo a scheduled medical procedure, per Indians general manager Mike Chernoff.

Sandy Alomar Jr. will manage the Indians for the series, as he did earlier this season when Francona missed over a week's worth of games while dealing with a gastrointestinal issue, which has been bothering Tito since spring training in Arizona.

Francona will not be the only member of the Indians absent from the Pittsburgh series, as catcher Sandy Leon was placed on the Family Medical Emergency List after the catcher, according to Chernoff, had to deal with a family matter. Leon will have to miss a minimum of three days after being placed on the list.

In a coinciding move, the Indians recalled outfielder Greg Allen from the Lake County alternate site.

Despite the Indians briefly losing Leon, fellow catcher Roberto Pérez was reactivated today and will be in the Tribe lineup for tonight's contest. Pérez had been out since July 27th with an injured right shoulder.
