One of the rumors coming from the NFL Combine in Indianapolis is that the Steelers may be willing to trade wide receiver Diontae Johnson, for the right price.

Speaking on The Fan Morning Show in Pittsburgh, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly with The Athletic say the Steelers might be interested in dealing Johnson, because he might not want to be here.

“He’s in the final year of his year, he’s probably not going to get extended, he wanted to make another big-money contract,” said Kaboly, pointing out that the quarterback situation isn’t stable right now.

“It’s hard to nail it down right now what angle it’s coming from but if I was a . . .
betting man, I would say that Diontae might be pushing it more than the Steelers,” added Kaboly.

Dorin Dickerson said he think Johnson was thinking the same thing last year as well.

Kaboly says the only issue is that you’re taking a weapon away from Kenny Pickett, who appears will only lose his starting job is if someone clearly outplays him in camp.

He says the draft is so deep at receiver next month, but that doesn’t mean they’ll hit on someone who can produce right away.

Another reason Johnson may want out is so he doesn’t have to play with Pickett.

Kaboly says even with that speculation, he still believes there is a 75-80 percent chance that Johnson is on the opening day roster.
