PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers riding momentum in the second half, getting some push on the offensive line, on a critical fourth and one the Steelers went to shotgun and called a run play. Not only did that fail, quarterback Kenny Pickett ended up with a knee injury and did not return.
The second-year quarterback replaced by last year’s season-opening starter Mitch Trubisky for the Steelers first, fourth quarter possession. Pittsburgh tailed 16-0 at the half and was never in contention as the Texans sailed to a 30-6 victory.
Pickett was 15-23 for 114 yards and an interception. The Pitt All-American has started every game this season completing 60.6% of his passes for 803 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions and a 76.3 QB rating. The Steelers dropped to 2-2 and face the Ravens next week
There was no immediate word on how long Pickett might miss. Also leaving the game with injury-TE Pat Freiermuth (hamstring), OT Dan Moore (knee) and DL DeMarvin Leal (concussion).
