Might there be a few Progressive commercials filmed at Raymond James Stadium before the 2022 NFL season?

We ask that half jokingly, though Rick Stroud of The Tampa Bay Times did note recently that the Buccaneers have "evaluated" the film of "about eight" quarterbacks on film, one of whom is Baker Mayfield of the Cleveland Browns.

In their search for Tom Brady's successor, the Buccaneers have likely turned over quite a few stones. But while Mayfield isn't available per se, the Buccaneers likely aren't spending time watching film of Josh Allen or Justin Herbert. For them to be spending time on Mayfield makes you believe that there's at least a chance that the former No. 1 overall pick could be moved this offseason.

In fact, ESPN's Dan Graziano says that the Browns have "been doing due diligence on potentially available veterans":

"I heard lots of rumblings in the latter part of this week about Cleveland making a trade for a quarterback and possibly shipping out Mayfield, either as part of the deal or in a separate deal."

After Mayfield led them to a playoff victory in 2020, his third NFL season, the Browns elected to exercise his fifth-year option. However, the organization decided not to negotiate a long-term deal with Mayfield, which he became eligible for after he completed his third regular season.

Mayfield then proceeded to struggle during an injury-riddled 2021 season, throwing just 17 touchdown passes to 13 interceptions.

Mayfield is currently due to make $18.58 million in 2022, the final guaranteed year of his rookie deal. After this upcoming season, the Browns -- or any team that trades for Mayfield -- would be left to decide whether to sign him to a long-term deal, franchise tag him or allow him to leave via free agency.
