After reportedly agreeing to a trade with the Washington Wizards to acquire center Daniel Gafford in exchange for Richaun Holmes and draft compensation, the Mavericks made another splash by acquiring Hornets wing PJ Washington in a deal that will send Grant Williams, Seth Curry and a 2027 first-round pick to Charlotte, according to multiple reports.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the 2027 first-rounder is top-two protected, and Dallas will also receive two second-round picks in the deal.

Washington, a 6-7 wing, is averaging 13.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 44 games played this season. Washington is a career 35.9 percent shooter from three-point range but is shooting a career-low 32.4 percent this season. He's shooting just below his career shooting percentage of 45 percent this season, hitting 44.6 percent of his shots.

Williams, who was in the first year of a four-year, $54 million deal he signed with the Mavericks in the offseason, struggled mightily this season, averaging 8.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists on 37.6 percent shooting from deep and 41.3 percent shooting from the field.
