The GM Meetings have been cut short, as Stephanie Apstein of Sports Illustrated reports that a stomach virus going around and spreading to at least 30 executives has caused the shutdown.
Per Apstein, there was concern that executives had suffered a foodborne illness from the food being served at the event that kicks off the MLB offseason, but when it was believed to be a virus that could be transmitted to others, the event was canceled a day early.
The Yankees had four staff members who came down sick.
The meetings were near an end anyway, so not too much time will be missed. And the meetings still generated plenty of fireworks for the local teams, including a fiery Brian Cashman on Tuesday and Scott Boras revealing that he and David Stearns had a long sitdown to discuss Pete Alonso’s future.
