The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Atlanta Braves on Sunday night, 7-6, but not without some controversy surrounding the winning run.

In the top of the ninth inning, Didi Gregorius flied out to Marcell Ozuna. Alec Bohm, who was on third base, tagged up and forced a play at the plate.

The throw took two hops into Travis d’Arnaud who tried to quickly apply the tag while sliding in front of the plate but Bohm was ruled safe.

The close play resulted in a booth review to determine whether or not Bohm actually touched home plate. In the angles shown on TV, it appeared as if Bohm’s foot went up into the air and over the plate without him ever touching it.

After review, the call was upheld and Bohm was ruled safe, which naturally led to an outraged Braves bench.

Braves manager Brian Snitker tossed his hat in the air and pulled his mask down to share his feelings before running out with the umps to argue the call.

Boos rang throughout Truist Park and fans on social media appeared to be in agreement: the wrong call was made.

The call was ultimately the deciding factor in the game as the Phillies hung on in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win.

Phillies manager Joe Girardi, on the other hand, defended the call.

Surely, there will be plenty of discussion about the ruling and use of replay to come.
