The Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers are wearing their heart on their sleeves for local workers who have been, or continue to be, on the front lines of the coronavirus battle.
The Stripers on Monday revealed special jerseys they'll be wearing which bear the names of doctors, nurses, health care workers and others who have stepped up when their community needed them most over the past year-plus.
The scores of names can be seen in the pinstripes on the Stripers' teal pullover home uniforms, and there is a large "Thank You" scrawled on the sleeve. The uniforms will be worn on Friday, when the Stripers are set to host the Memphis Redbirds for Salute to Frontline Workers Night at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, Ga.
The jerseys are set to be auctioned off after the game, with proceeds going to the Northside Hospital network in the Atlanta metro area. The Stripers solicited submissions for the jerseys earlier this year.
