Even after two years in the NBA, it's hard to tell just how good Cam Reddish can truly be. That's partially because two years is a fairly small sample size. That's also because that small sample size was greatly reduced due to an injury he suffered in Year 2, which only allowed him to play in 26 of the 72 games on the schedule. And that's also because his injury correlated with the firing of Lloyd Pierce, at which point Nate McMillan took over the head coaching role and turned the middling Hawks into a playoff force.

The talent is there, and time is on his side at just 21 years old. However, he may not be able to cement himself as a player worth his No. 10 overall value in Atlanta if rumors of the Hawks' front office moves become reality.

In the latest edition of Kevin O'Connor's mock draft on The Ringer, the Hawks go with UNC big man Day'Ron Sharpe with the No. 20 pick. However, the more important nugget is what KOC writes underneath:

League sources say the Hawks have offered the 20th pick with Cam Reddish to teams drafting in the late lottery. The expectation around the league is that Sharpe, a tough big with small-ball 5 potential, would be the target if they make a trade.

Sharpe played one season for the Tar Heels, using his big 6-foot-11, 265-pound frame to bully opponents en route to 9.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. For a team that relies on the undersized Clint Capela to handle so much work on the inside with an undersized backup — the 6-foot-8 Onyeka Okongwu, who is recovering from surgery — having another big body would be a nice addition. And if sacrificing Reddish is what they need to get the guy they want, it doesn't seem out of reason that they'd attempt to move him, though you'd think they'd want more in return if he was accompanied by the No. 20 pick as well.

One possible framework, according to NBA insider Evan Massey, is that the Hawks and Pacers could look at a deal centered around the exchange of Reddish and Indiana's No. 13 pick.

Reddish has averaged 10.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game over 84 contests in his career, struggling with shooting efficiency (37.8 FG%, 30.9 3P%). However, in what could possibly have been his final game as a Hawk, he sure put his sharp-shooting potential on display.
