95 percent of the video you're about to watch is what New York Yankees fans should want to see. A strong and confident swing, good burst out of the box, some speed around the bases... all of that is great for massively hyped prospect Jasson Dominguez, who was promoted to the Low-A Tampa Tarpons on Tuesday, to show. Through three games, he's 5-12 with two extra-base hits: a double in his debut and, on Thursday, a triple.
That triple is the focal point of the video in question, and again, it's mostly good. It just didn't quite end in the way that some might hope to see from one of the top prospects around. See for yourself:
For one thing, that slide doesn't seem to be the most conducive method of conserving his health and well-being. Luckily, he got up and was able to laugh it off, but who knows how that slide could have ended up had a knee tweak taken place or something similar. Second, the "slide" nearly took him off the bag altogether and nullified the benefits of having hit a triple. So that wouldn't have been good.
And third... come on, man! You can't be "The Martian" and look as unpolished as that out there. But hey, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it was just a weird stumble. We've seen worse from great players.
