There was a scary moment in Monday’s Mets-Braves game at Truist Park when Kevin Pillar exited after being hit in the face with a pitch from Atlanta pitcher Jacob Webb.

Pillar was unable to get out of the way from a Webb fastball as it hit him right in the face, sending the outfielder to the ground.

Pillar rolled on the ground in pain and as he picked his head up from the ground blood was seen dripping from his face.

The gruesome scene led many players on the field visibly upset, including Webb and Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman, who had his arms over his head in disbelief.

The Mets official Twitter account showed its support for Pillar after he left the game.

Pillar was replaced by Khalil Lee, who went to first while a run scored as the hit by pitch came with the bases loaded.

Webb was also replaced after the at-bat by Sean Newcomb.

Pillar’s injury was reminiscent of Giancarlo Stanton being hit by a pitch while with the Marlins against then-Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers in 2014. Stanton sustained facial fractures, facial laceration and needed dental work after the incident.

Bryce Harper was also recently hit in the face by a pitch but managed to walk off the field on his own power and escape with no serious injury.
