From 1995 to 2004, the Montreal Expos rocked one of the great road jerseys in MLB history.
While most teams have grey road jerseys, the Expos managed to merge the traditional away look with a red, white and blue color scheme that really popped. Montreal was written in red cursive on the front of the jersey, with a Fleur-de-lis above the "e" in the city's name, a nod to the french population in the area. The uniform also featured red, white and blue cuffs at the end of their sleeves and one of the sport's most iconic logos just below the left shoulder.
If the Expos were still a team, they'd probably have the top road look in the sport. Instead, we'll have to settle for these 10 as the best away uniforms in the sport currently:
10. Washington Nationals

Like another team coming up, the Nationals road alternates - a navy blue jersey that they wore when they won the 2019 World Series - are their best uniform. Still, for a team that has only existed since 2005, the team's grey road uniforms have a pretty classic look. It's not quite the Expos, but the Nationals have done well with their road uniforms.
9. Seattle Mariners

In general, we feel that the Mariners uniform kit - for a lack of a more American term - is under-appreciated. They have clean white uniforms at home, and three very good alternates. The road grays might actually be their least aesthetically pleasing uniform, but that's only when compared to the rest of the bunch.
8. Chicago White Sox

The script - reminiscent of the Bulls' cursive classics - is what makes these uniforms. Of course, one of the elite hats in the sport and sharp matte helmets don't hurt either. The only suggestion we have is that the White Sox remove the primary logo from their left sleeve, and return back to the white sox on the black baseball diamond that they had during their 2005 World Series victory.
7. San Diego Padres

While we're partial to the Padres grey, pinstriped road alternates, their primary brown away uniforms are one of the more popular looks in the sport currently. The Padres returned to a brown and yellow look in 2020, and it wouldn't surprising if they move forward with this look for decades.
6. New York Mets

The Yankees unquestionably have the most iconic home uniform in New York, but the Mets top them on the road. We're fans of the Mets bringing back their black alternate jerseys, but ditching their primary black hats (and the belts that went with those uniforms) in 2012 was a very good decision. There's nothing wrong with the Mets mixing in black on an alternate, but their primary colors should be blue and orange.
5. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers have a road alternate that just says "Dodgers" on it, like their home jerseys. That's not a bad uniform, but their road uniforms that say "Los Angeles" in cursive are superior. The best touch on both the Dodgers home and road jerseys are the numbers that are red on the front, but blue on the back.
4. Oakland Athletics

The Kelly green alternates that the A's wear on Friday home games, among other times, are the best uniform that the team has, but truly they have an embarrassment of riches in the threads department. The script on the jerseys is strong, it looks great with or without long sleeves underneath and the elephant on the left sleeve will never not be cool.
3. Toronto Blue Jays

Canada doesn't have the Expos anymore, but they still have one of the best road uniforms in the sport. The Blue Jay on the front of the team's jerseys looks even cooler than a number would, and the script for both "Toronto" and the number on the back of the jerseys is arguably the best in baseball.
2. St. Louis Cardinals

The navy blue hats that the Cardinals wore on the road from 1995 to 2012 wasn't awful, but the team's decision to just wear their red primary hats away from home beginning in 2013 really made these jerseys pop. It's not that dissimilar from the Philadelphia Phillies road uniforms, but the two Cardinals perched on the bat is just more interesting.
1. Detroit Tigers

It always seems to come down the Tigers and the Cardinals, doesn't it? For our money, the Tigers road uniforms are not only the best in the sport currently, but one of the best in MLB history. The Tigers have worn these uniforms on the road since 1995, and added in the navy blue and orange hat in 1998. There's no reason that Detroit should ever move away from these uniforms.
