NBA fines Mavericks $750k for benching players vs. Bulls

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The NBA has fined the Dallas Mavericks $750,000 for conduct detrimental to the league when the organization benched six players vs. the Chicago Bulls on April 7.

The Mavs also sat Luka Doncic for the majority of the game, after he started and played the first quarter.

The NBA cited that the Mavs violated the league's player resting policy, which resulted in the fine.

The players who were benched during the game were not fined by the league.

The Dallas Mavericks' decision to restrict key players from fully particpating in an elimination game last Friday against Chicago undermined the integrity of our sport," NBA Executive Vice President Joe Dumars said. "The Mavericks actions failed our fans and our league."

The Mavs were promptly eliminated from playoff contention following the 115-112 loss, culminating in one of the most disappointing seasons in recent Mavs history.
