PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – There were some game-altering ideas the NFL owners considered at their meetings in Arizona on Tuesday. None of them were approved.

Here is a quick look at what was voted down. What will be considered again in the future, but not changed this year and what changes were made.

Voted Down
·     Proposal to make roughing the passer reviewable.
·     Proposal to make touchbacks for punts come out to the 25-yard-line, it will stay at the 20.

Tabled (meaning they will try again another time)
·     Proposal to replace the onside kick with a fourth-and-20 play
·     Proposal to ban split-flow blocks
·     Proposal to allow for a third QB dressed on game-days that wouldn’t count against the active roster

Approved
·     Players can now wear the number 0
·     Officials have the ability to review failed fourth down attempts
·     On a ‘launch’ penalty a player must leave one or two feet off the ground
·     Teams must provide greater clarity as to a player’s availability for a game
