PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) - Rumors are spreading that within the next week, Major League Baseball will present to the Players Association their proposal to start up the season.

Pirates starter Jameson Taillon joined The PM Team with Andrew Fillipponi and Chris Mueller to share his thoughts as the teams MLBPA representative.

"Nothing has been formally presented to us as players," Taillon told us.  "Just hearing a rumor and having a rough idea of a timeline that the teams are at least thinking about playing games in, that's kind of refreshing...players are definitely excited to have something to work for, but again, health and safety comes first."

As for where the players are right now in terms of staying ready for the season, Jameson shares with us what the Pirates pitchers are up to.

"Right now I think pitchers are throwing two bullpens a week.  Starters are getting multiple ups just to keep their endurance up.  You know, maybe throw an inning, sit down, throw another inning, maybe get up to like three innings or so with some simulated work."

Taillon goes over some of the other previously leaked ideas for playing baseball again and says the ideas that involve the players isolating away from their families didn't seem like it would gain much traction.

"I don't think people, not just players, I don't know if staff would have agreed to be away from their families."

The idea of playing in home stadiums that has been thrown out recently seems much more realistic to Taillon.

"Guys have leases up in Pittsburgh.  Guys are paying for rent up in Pittsburgh, I think that;s another factor.  Getting to sleep in your own bed.  Not moving around the country all the time.  I think that all matters."

Taillon also addressed where the players stand on compensation as rumors have floated that the league wants to look again at the previous agreement.  Click the audio below to hear where he comes down on that idea.
