This was apparently the weekend of comebacks in sports.
A day after the Minnesota Vikings came back from a 33-0 deficit against the Indianapolis Colts — the largest comeback history in NFL history — France nearly pulled off an epic comeback of its own.
The French fell to an early 2-0 lead to Argentina in Sunday’s World Cup Final, but rallied back to tie the score at 2 apiece on goals by Kylian Mbappe in the 80th and 81st minute.
Not only that, but France came back again in the overtime period after Lionel Messi gave Argentina a 3-2 lead, Mbappe converted a penalty kick to tie the game back up at 3 and force a shootout.
Naturally, the crossover of soccer and NFL fans were having fun with this one on Twitter as the comparisons to the Vikings comeback began flooding in.

However, unlike the Vikings, the French could not complete its comeback. Argentina won the game in penalty kicks, 4-2, giving Messi his first World Cup championship of his illustrious career.
