The last thing everyone wanted to see was Alex Smith running from pressure and getting hit.

Unfortunately, in his first action after coming back from injury, Smith was sacked six times by the Los Angeles Rams in Washington's 30-10 defeat.

The Rams defense had eight sacks on the day, costing Washington 41 yards and it led to a terrible day for the Washington offense. Scott Turner's offense managed 10 first downs (three of those coming via a defensive penalty) and just 108 yards of total offense on 52 plays. That's a 2.1 yards per play average.

Aaron Donald welcomed Smith back to the NFL with a sack to end his first drive in the 2nd quarter.

Washington announced starter Kyle Allen, who left the game due to an arm injury, was cleared to reenter the game after the half, but Smith stayed in the game for Ron Rivera’s offense.

Smith finished with 37 yards passing on nine completions on 17 attempts. He lost 31 yards on sacks. Allen had 74 yards passing on 9-for-13 passing.

Donald got his second sack of Smith on 3rd-and-13 to force a punt after the half.

With Washington backed up deep in their own territory, the Rams got to Smith on back-to-back plays with Troy Reeder and Jachai Polite getting sacks, the second almost leading to a safety.

Reeder got to Smith again, this time leading to a nine-yard loss and another Washington punt.

Not to be outdone, Donald sacked Smith again, this time forcing a fumble, that Smith was able to jump on.

Donald finished with four sacks and Reeder three.
