For a 6-foot-3, 250-pound edge rusher, Chase Winovich has some wheels. There were only four players denoted as an EDGE at the 2019 NFL Draft Combine who ripped a 40-yard dash time faster than 4.60 seconds, and Winovich was one of them (via Pro Football Reference):
Montez Sweat: 4.41 s
Justin Hollins: 4.50 s
Brian Burns: 4.53 s
Chase Winovich: 4.59 s
15 other EDGEs tried to break that barrier and failed.
And apparently, Winovich is trying to pass on that speed trait to to his Samoyed, Zeus, though it appears Zeus isn't a big fan of "dog treadmills," an item I did not know existed until I read the following tweet:
A dog treadmill? That's a great idea if you don't have a roomy backyard to run around in or if your owners are often out and about, and perhaps that's the case with Winovich. Teammate Julian Edelman came to his assistance in the attempt to sell the treadmill, which is listed at a little over $500 on Amazon.
It looks as though Winovich became Zeus's owner as his 25th birthday gift earlier this year, and already we can see some growth.
So consider this not only a post keeping you up to date on your favorite Patriots, but a post for any pet owners looking to give their dogs — or maybe cats could run on there, too? — a nice home workout.
