At home for the first time in a month, the Lions picked up where they left off in a Week 4 romp of the Seahawks -- and then some.
The Lions routed the Titans and the No. 1 defense in the NFL on Sunday, 52-14. Detroit got touchdowns from six different players and barely broke a sweat, capitalizing on four turnovers and poor special teams by the last-place Titans.
The highlights for Detroit were many. A 70-yard rushing touchdown by Jahmyr Gibbs on a one-play drive. A passing touchdown by David Montgomery to Sam LaPorta. A 90-yard punt return touchdown by Kalif Raymond, who also caught a touchdown. Even Jake Bates got in on the fun with a 51-yard field goal.
The Titans entered the day allowing the fewest yards per game (272.2) in the NFL. They held the Lions to 225 and still lost by 38. Their first three turnovers came in their own territory and led directly to touchdowns for Detroit.
Two plays after Mason Rudolph was picked off by Trevor Nowaske on the Titans' opening drive, Montgomery plowed into the end zone to put the Lions up 7-0. Four plays after Rudolph was picked by Kerby Joseph in the second quarter, Jared Goff hit Amon-Ra St. Brown in the end zone to push the lead to 28-14.
And three plays after Amik Robertson forced a fumble by Calvin Ridley that was recovered by Carlton Davis III, Goff connected with Raymond to make it 49-14 in the third.
The Lions pulled most of their offensive starters after breaking the 50-point threshold early in the fourth.
Beginning with their 42-29 rout of the Seahawks last month, the Lions have averaged 43 points over their last four games.
