It must have been a fun time playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers' defense in the mid-2000s to early 2010s. Of course, that's in part because they were pretty darn good. Let's look at the stretch from 2004, when Bill Cowher's team went 15-1, to 2012, the final year in which a certain trio of Steelers played together. No team in the game allowed fewer points to their opponents over that stretch of nine seasons, and the Steelers were fairly far ahead of the second-place team:
So, yes, of course it's going to be fun when you're ranking atop the league year after year after year. But it also must have been fun because the aforementioned trio of Steelers — James Harrison, Brett Keisel and Larry Foote — seem to have some pretty good banter going on between the three of them that continues even to this day.
Harrison uploaded a picture to his Facebook page on Thursday morning showing a text exchange between him and Keisel, which went as follows:
Harrison: We are leaving the house at 10a
Keisel: Who's your best friend?
Harrison: What's wrong bro, you need assurance?
Harrison: (with accompanying cartoon picture of himself) You're my best friend.
Isn't that just adorable? And it didn't come without a small chirp of the third member of that trio, Foote, who was mentioned in Harrison's caption:
This goes out to @larryfoote313 - just so you know and the world knows @brett_keisel99 is my BFF not you so stop trying to come between us!😂
It's not too much of a surprise seeing Harrison and Foote throw some playful jabs at each other, seeing as they've done it a whole bunch throughout their careers and post-playing days (h/t Josh Kirkendall of Cincy Jungle).
We're also not surprised that Harrison has deemed Keisel his BFF... in fact, he did it literally months ago.
