(105.3 THE FAN) - It's not Ezekiel Elliott, but the Dallas Cowboys appear to be wrapping up an extension with offensive lineman La'El Collins.

Charlies Robinson of Yahoo was the first to report that a deal was close.

The deal will be a five-year extension with Collins, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Charlies Robinson of Yahoo was the first to report that a deal was close.

"I expect it to be similar to the Jaylon Smith deal, with Collins and Dallas reaching a contract beneficial for both the player & team." Robinson tweeted early Tuesday morning.

Collins, 26, is entering his fifth NFL season. The Cowboys signed the former LSU star as an undrafted free-agent in 2015 after concerns about him speaking to police about a murder of a former girlfriend sunk his chances of likely going in the first-round of the NFL Draft.

Ultimately, Collins was cleared of any involvement and has proven to be a flexible option on a Cowboys offensive line that is consistently among the best in the sport. He'll open 2019 as the team's starting right tackle, though it remains unclear if he'll be run blocking for the aforementioned Elliott at the outset of the season.
