At the outset of the 2020 season, when the #LetRussCook movement was at its height, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio passed along an interest nugget, saying that there were some in league circles that believed Russell Wilson eventually wouldn't be a Seahawk if they didn't use him in a way that was in line with how other all-time great quarterbacks are utilized.

Wilson had another monster season in 2020, tossing 40 touchdowns to 13 interceptions, while racking up 4,212 passing yards. Heck, in his age-32 season, Wilson even ran for 513 yards, the most he's accumulated in three seasons. He won't ultimately receive his first NFL MVP vote in 2020, but for all intents and purposes, Russ cooked.

Still, after looking like the sport's top offense for the first half of the season, the magic wore off to some degree as the weather got colder. In the first eight games of the 2020 season, the Seahawks offense averaged over 34 points per contest. In the second half of the season, Seattle regressed to averaged 23.1 points per game, scoring more than 30 in just one single game. Perhaps the pace they were on in the first half of the season was unsustainable, but the stark contrast in the two halves took the Seahawks from being seen as a Super Bowl contender, to just another team in the postseason field.

And so, if the Seahawks were to lose the Los Angeles Rams Saturday evening, you wonder what type of discussion we'll be having Monday morning. No, the Seahawks aren't going to trade Wilson this offseason, but you do wonder if they'll be forced into making some coaching and personnel decisions if they feel like the clock is ticking on the relationship with Wilson.
