There is still no resolution to the Brandon Aiyuk saga. Around and around we go. But, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the 49ers and Steelers do have a framework.
Rapoport put out the following tweet Tuesday morning, which reads:
"Update on Brandon Aiyuk:
-- The Steelers and #49ers have a deal on a potential trade and PIT is in a good place on an Aiyuk contract, sources say. If SF gives the final sign-off, it's done.
-- SF has an offer out to Aiyuk on a long-term deal for him to stay. He hasn't accepted."
This is all in the hands of the 49ers and Aiyuk. The Athletic's Diana Russini put out another tweet, moments after Rapoport, seemingly responding to it.
Russini reports that the Steelers "have been waiting for days to hear from the San Francisco 49ers on a possible trade for Brandon Aiyuk."
Everything seems both imminent, and far away. The wait goes on.
