Any chance of some Fitzmagic happening in his debut with Washington Football Team disappeared rather quickly on Sunday.

Ryan Fitzpatrick left the Week 1 opener early in the second quarter with a right hip injury following a hit from Chargers edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu during an incomplete pass attempt.

The 38-year-old journeyman quarterback was visibly in pain but was able to get up and walk back to the locker room with trainers on his own.

Following the game, a 20-16 loss to the Chargers, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Fitzpatrick suffered a hip subluxation and will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine how much damage was caused. He added that it is a serious injury but will find out just how serious with the MRI.

Fitzpatrick was replaced by Taylor Heinicke, who was the team’s starting quarterback in a wild-card round playoff loss to the Bucs last year.

Heinicke finished the game completing 11-of-15 pass attempts for 122 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort.
