Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – With so many games being postponed due to outbreaks of COVID-19, the NHL has decided to pause the season and start the Christmas break early.
Teams will now be off from Wednesday, Dec. 22 through Saturday, Dec. 25. Teams will be back for testing and practices after 2 p.m. EST on Sunday, Dec. 26, which is a day earlier that originally planned.
The Buffalo Sabres already had all three of their games this week against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Colorado Avalanche postponed due to COVID-19 outbreaks with those teams.
Games will resume on Monday, Dec. 27, as the Sabres are scheduled to host the New York Islanders.
