In Week 8, Odell Beckham Jr. hit a new low point amid a disappointing 2021 campaign, hauling in his lone target for a six-yard reception. That's it. One catch, six yards and yet another week that left fans scratching their heads at how such an immense talent is failing to produce.
Someone who isn't wondering what the reason is? OBJ's father, who is seemingly pointing the blame at one person and one person only: Baker Mayfield.
Odell Beckham Sr., who played running back at LSU in the early 1990s, took to Instagram to repost a YouTube video that highlights every missed opportunity for Mayfield to have gotten OBJ the ball in recent weeks. The caption? “Generally Behind Da Scene, BUT NOT TODAY.” The hashtags? Among the notable ones are #imafatherbeforeanything, #ihurt4him and #disrespectful.
The above 11-plus-minute compilation was put together by a YouTube account called "Jdaddy Productions," who has blown up in the past with his "Browns Abysmal 2015 Season Review" video garnering over 170,000 views. So although it wasn't Beckham Sr. putting together all the plays, he sure as heck doesn't want to let all of them go unnoticed. Notably, NBA star Damian Lillard appeared in the comments, simply saying "This crazy..." in response to the compilation.

What does this mean in terms of the star wideout getting moved before Tuesday's trade deadline, which, at the time of this writing, is just hours away? It might mean that Beckham Sr. wants his son to play in a system that's more conducive to his success — and the feeling may be mutual for OBJ himself — but it doesn't seem like there's much fuel to that fire from the Browns' perspective.
The good news is that we won't have to wait long to find out what OBJ's fate is, and it seems clear which result Beckham Sr. is hoping for.
