Already among the most accomplished playoff performers in MLB history, Carlos Correa added to his postseason legacy with a monster Game 5 Sunday night in Atlanta, sending the World Series back to Houston with a three-hit masterpiece. The 27-year-old drove in two of the Astros’ nine runs in the winning effort, upping his career total to 59 postseason RBI. That’s good for sixth-most all-time behind only Bernie Williams, Manny Ramirez, David Justice, Derek Jeter and David Ortiz.

Speaking of Ortiz, the Red Sox legend (who was recently called the breakout television star of this year’s playoffs) joined Correa for a spirited post-game powwow on Fox, which included this inspired bit of prop comedy.

If this postseason has taught us anything about Ortiz it’s that he loves throwing literal money around, but this time, Papi’s theatrics were in service of a higher purpose—to get his buddy paid. Earlier this year, Correa was offered a six-year, $120-million extension by the Astros but turned it down, preferring to test his luck in free agency.

Correa, who launched a career-high 26 homers during the regular season, joins a crowded shortstop market headlined by fellow All-Stars Trevor Story and Corey Seager. That could work to his advantage if a bidding war ensues, driving up the price of all three, though with so many potent bats available this winter, Correa also risks getting lost in the shuffle (not to mention the elephant in the room—the threat of a potential work stoppage, which is growing more likely by the day). Correa placed a hefty wager on himself and while there’s no guarantee his bet pays off, performances like the one he gave Sunday, putting the Astros on his back (perhaps for the final time), will go a long way toward securing the fortune he’s worked for his entire career.
