Football fans haven't always been able to see the lighter, human side of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. But there's no excuse for missing out on that now, since the reigning MVP has been hosting one of America's favorite quiz shows.
On Monday, Rodgers began his two-week stint as the guest host of "Jeopardy!" Since the passing of beloved host Alex Trebek last November, the game show has invited a series of celebrities to host episodes while searching for a permanent replacement.
It's impossible for anyone to fill the huge shoes of the late Trebek, who hosted "Jeopardy!" for nearly four decades. But the good news for Rodgers is that he has some idea of what it's like to pick up where a legend left off.
"He had this plan [of guest hosting Jeopardy!]," Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling told the JR SportBrief show on Thursday. "During the whole season, we were talking about how he was going to do it in the offseason. So, it was cool to see it actually get done. I know it's something that he's always wanted to do. He's a very intelligent guy. So, for him to go out and make a dream of his come true, it's pretty cool to see...
"He's a great guy, great teacher, great friend, great teammate. He's open. Obviously, being a future Hall of Famer, a 15-year vet, and the best player in the NFL, he's going to have a high standard. But what quarterback wouldn't who wants to win championships? Other than that, he's a good guy. He laughs, he plays all day, he jokes around with the guys and coaches.
"He's been in a great mood. He talked about it himself that, over the last year, he made a lot of changes in his personal life that just have made him in better spirits. And so, you can tell he just loves being around his teammates and enjoys it, and it's a great thing to see."
Valdes-Scantling, who was drafted in the fifth round by Green Bay in 2018, has shown big-play abilities on the field. In 48 career games, he and Rodgers have connected on 97 receptions while accumulating 1,723 yards and 10 touchdowns.
