The owner of the Carolina Panthers is offering a sparsely-worded apology for dousing a hometeam fan with his drink in Sunday's 26-to-nothing loss at Jacksonville.
The gone-viral social media video shows David Tepper reacting to a home team fan's taunting moments after Carolina rookie Bryce Young threw an interception with less than three minutes to play.
The miscue coupled with the fan's comment was apparently too much for Tepper whose team now holds the NFL's worst record. He dumps the drink toward the Jacksonville fan's face just below the club suite's window.
His statement in response to the NFL's decision to fine him 300-thousand dollars for "unacceptable conduct" reads: “I am deeply passionate about this team and regret my behavior on Sunday. I should have let NFL stadium security handle any issues that arose. I respect the NFL’s code of conduct and accept the League’s discipline for my behavior.”
