Pete Carroll hired by Raiders, will Russell Wilson join him?

Former NFL Head Coach Pete Carroll is back in the league.

The former Seahawks Head Coach has been named to lead the Las Vegas Raiders.

And Carroll getting hired could mean good or bad news, depending on your perspective for the Steelers.

NFL Insider Jeff Howe, with The Athletic, reports that with Carroll being named the Raiders Head Coach, “one name I’ve heard to watch at QB: Russell Wilson.”

“They’ve mended fences, per source, and Wilson could be a stopgap while the Raiders develop a long-term answer,” added Howe.

Wilson said earlier this week on The Pat McAfee Show that he wants to stay in Pittsburgh and that there have been some early talks on getting a deal done to return as the Steelers quarterback in 2025.

But that is far from a done deal.

There has been an argument for the Steelers to try to re-sign Justin Fields, who started the first six games for the Steelers last season, going 4-2.

See what Fields can do and try to find your future QB in the 2026 NFL Draft…in Pittsburgh.

Carroll is reportedly getting a three-year deal with Vegas with a fourth-year team option.

Wilson was Carroll’s quarterback for 10 years and Wilson reportedly called for Carroll to be fired by the Seahawks before he was traded to Denver.

The Wilson/Carroll falling out reportedly went back a couple seasons before his final year in Seattle, in 2021.

The duo won a Super Bowl together during the 2013 season.
