Jerry Remy will be with the Red Sox for every game this season.
The team unveiled special patches Tuesday that every player will wear to honor the late and beloved broadcaster. Remy passed away last October after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 68 years old.
The Red Sox will also hold pregame ceremonies April 20 to honor Remy, who spent more than 40 years with the organization as a player, coach and broadcaster.
The patch is black with “Remy” stitched in red lettering. His No. 2 is stitched in white.
In addition to the on-field ceremony, NESN will air an hourlong special about Remy April 6. Remy joined the network full-time in 1988, where he became an icon for his incisive analysis and irreverent “RemDawg” persona.
He may be gone, but his legend lives on.
