
PHILADELPHIA (93.7 The Fan) – The news came out just after another big pass play, 34-yarder, against a Steelers linebacker. Pro Football Focus first to report the Steelers acquired linebacker Joe Schobert in a trade with Jacksonville.
PFF reports the Jaguars will retain some of the salary as the former Browns linebacker signed for five years, $53 million in March of 2020. Spotrac.com reports the Steelers will cover $7.3 million of Schobert's salary this year. The salary details after that is $9.25 million in 2022, $10.75 million in 2023, $11.25 million in 2024.
Pro Football Focus graded Schobert as the second best coverage linebacker in the NFL in 2018 during a 103-tackle season in just 13 games the Browns.
Schobert led the NFL in tackles in 2017 with Cleveland with 144 and had 133 with Cleveland in 2019 before signing the big deal with Jacksonville. The 6’1”, 245-pound Schobert had 141 tackles with 84 solo last season.
The Wisconsin native had 20 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks in his final season with the Badgers.
