Shaquille O’Neal stopped by Dukes & Bell on Monday to discuss his partnership with Sheriff Scandrett as they co-host the upcoming Law Enforcement and CommUNITY Car Show. Along with the event, Shaq also had a surprising answer when it comes to NIL deals.
“I probably wouldn’t have taken any NIL money.” He said
When asked why he felt that way, he responded with the following:
“What if I took a one-year deal and things didn’t go right? Then I undercut myself. If I took an NIL deal it would be okay, I’m going to take this money, Reebok, but when I come out I want the deal I'm going to get. But I don’t want it later, I want it now. I’m projected to be the Number One pick, I want $40 million for eight years. So go on ahead and give me the $40 million right now. Don’t give me $500,000-600,000. Nope. I think that would get me a little complacent.”
