VIEW FROM PITTSBURGH: Some Steelers fans show 'pretty classless' behavior booing Rudolph

Acrisure Stadium was rocking on Saturday night. Typically with preseason games, the place isn’t as packed as it is during regular season games, with people leaving as the game goes on and less recognizable names come into the game.

But with the first real quarterback battle in nearly 20 years, fans showed up and hung around for the game against the Seattle Seahawks.

All three quarterbacks, Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett played well with each throwing at least one touchdown (Pickett had two) and there were no interceptions.

When Pickett came in to play, the crowd went nuts cheering for the former Pitt star in his first game in black and gold and he gave them reason to keep cheering throwing a last second touchdown to give the Steelers the win.

But while the crowd was rocking and loud, there was a shameful moment when Rudolph came into the game in the first half.

A pretty noticeable amount of fans could he heard booing as the quarterback replaced Trubisky.

Even if you’re not a Mason Rudolph fan, booing him is, according to 93.7 The Fan’s Josh Rowntree, “total clown behavior.”

What did Rudolph do to deserve the boos? Nothing. He is the team’s backup quarterback and hadn’t even played a snap so far this season.

If he comes out and throws and interception on his first play, fine, you can boo him then, but just walking out on the field and getting booed? Pretty classless.

You can want Pickett over Rudolph, think Rudolph should be traded and has been underwhelming when he does get a chance to play in regular season games, but fans didn’t need to boo him without cause. Not a good look for Steeler Nation.

Rudolph finished the game going 9-of-15 with 93 yards with one touchdown and a passer rating of 100.1.

But Rudolph does have some supporters around town still.
