The Panthers traded for Jets quarterback Sam Darnold on Monday afternoon, acquiring him for a sixth round pick in 2021 as well as a second and fourth rounder in 2022, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
While the trade made waves in the NFL community, sportsbooks didn’t change either teams odds of winning the Super Bowl.
"Both teams are holding tight, no price adjustments to share for now,” Patrick Eichner, director of communications for PointsBet, said about the trade.
DraftKings Sportsbook also held firm with their prices on both teams. The Panthers remain at 50-1 to win the Super Bowl while the Jets are at 80-1.
The No. 3 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Darnold struggled during his tenure in New York, going 13-25. The former USC Trojans standout is now set to take over for Teddy Bridgewater in Carolina with second year coach Matt Rhule and an innovative offensive coordinator in Joe Brady.
Carolina maintained the eighth pick in the 2021 NFL Draft to help build around Darnold.
Meanwhile, New York is in position to take BYU’s Zach Wilson with the No. 2 pick in the Draft. Wilson is -2000 at DK to be picked second.
