Steelers General Manager Omar Khan didn’t dismiss trading for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields.

He didn’t say they are either.

Asked by The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly point blank if they are trading for Justin Fields, Khan responded, “I’m not going to go into details about the conversations that we’ve had . . . I can tell you that I have an obligation to look at every avenue that’s out there to try to make us a better football team.”

That was followed up by questions about Kirk Cousins and Russell Wilson.

Khan said, “same answer.”

The Steelers GM did say that they are excited about Kenny Pickett going into 2024.

“Excited about the impact that Arthur Smith’s going to have on the offense and on Kenny and Tom Arth also, excited about the process.

Smith is the new offensive coordinator and Arth is the team’s new quarterbacks coach.

Khan pointed out that the organization only have one quarterback under contract right now, Pickett.

Khan also said they’ve been in contact with Mason Rudolph’s people and want to bring him back.

He also added there will be “strong competition” for the Steelers starting quarterback.

We don’t know who the other quarterbacks will be, yet, when training camp starts, but it sounds like the starting position isn’t behind handed over to Pickett.
