Appearing on the “Orange and Brown Talk” podcast, Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot said Mayfield has garnered minimal interest since last week's trade for Deshaun Watson. If cut, Cabot says the Steelers would be very interested in signing him.

According to Sports Illustrated ’s Albert Breer, the Browns are seeking a first-round pick for Mayfield. The Colts were reportedly Mayfield's preferred landing spot before they traded for former MVP Matt Ryan on Monday.

Mayfield compiled a 6-8 record with 17 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and an 83.1 passer rating last season while playing through multiple injuries including a shoulder ailment that would ultimately require surgery. Despite signing Mitchell Trubisky, the Steelers have yet to name a starter with GM Kevin Colbert planning to roster at least four quarterbacks this summer. Trubisky will compete with Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins in training camp as the Steelers look to replace future Hall-of-Famer Ben Roethlisberger, who announced his retirement this offseason after 18 NFL seasons.
