It looks like the Patriots and Chiefs will play this week after all.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the game has been rescheduled for Monday night at 7:05 p.m. ET in Kansas City. It will air on CBS with Jim Nantz and Tony Romo on the call.
The week's original Monday night game, Packers vs. Falcons, will start a little later than usual, at 8:50 p.m. ET. That game will still air on ESPN.
The plan was locked in after the Patriots got good news Sunday morning, as all of their most recent COVID-19 tests reportedly came back negative.
The game was originally scheduled to be played at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, but was postponed when Patriots quarterback Cam Newton tested positive for COVID-19. Chiefs practice squad quarterback Jordan Ta'amu also reportedly tested positive.
Newton will not be available for the Patriots. Backup Brian Hoyer is expected to start in his place. It would be his first start for the Patriots after spending parts of six seasons here as a backup.
Hoyer started one game last season with the Colts and has a career record of 16-22 as a starter.
Schefter also reports that both teams will be tested one more time on Monday before the game.
