LeBron James has accomplished everything on the court as one of the greatest players in NBA history. However, the future Hall of Famer maybe remembered more so for his work in the community.

A perk of being famous and successful like LeBron means that you will have access to friendships and connections that can not just affect his life, but the lives of others who are less fortunate. One famous friend, in particular, decided to donate $1 million to James' "I Promise" school in Akron while his Lakers were in Toronto to play the Raptors.

Rap icon Drake, who has been friends with James for a long time, hosted a dinner at the fancy Harbour 60 restaurant in Toronto on behalf of Stake, a cryptocurrency gambling company he's partnered with. During the event, the Grammy award-winning artist gave a speech that ended with surprising James with a hefty donation to his school, which he founded back in 2018 with the help of his foundation.

"Myself and Eddie from Stake, we’re going to dedicate a million dollars to the I Promise school,” Drake said. “And I’m gonna go drop it off myself before the school year ends.”

Earlier in the video (watch it in full here), Drake said his donation comes after he won big playing roulette on Stack's website.

This was not the only generous gesture the 'Headlines' rapper did that day. He, along with James, treated a local high school basketball star in Toronto named Micheal, along with his mother to join them for the dinner event. While exchanging pleasantries, James and Drake gifted the player's mom $100,000 who was shocked to say the least.

“I respect your hard work a lot,” he said to Micheal before pivoting to his mother. “But I respect your hard work more. On behalf of me, my brother and Stake, we wanted to give you this $100,000. Hopefully, this makes this journey just a little bit easier.”

The Lakers’ forward certainly understands the struggles that many of the kids at his school have to deal with during his adolescent years growing up in Akron.

Fournatley for the four-time NBA MVP, he used his athletic gifts to work his way up from the bottom, but he still realizes that not everyone can do what he does and knows education is a way out.

His 'I Promise' School currently teaches kids from 1st-8th grades and boasts an enrollment of 339 students according to US News & World Report.
