Final: UGA 65 #9 Memphis 62
Memphis held Georgia's NBA-bound prospect Anthony Edwards to 13 points on 4 of 17 shooting (2 of 5 from 3-pt) but Memphis couldn't defend the 3-ball well enough to beat Georgia on Saturday at FedExfForum. Georgia was 10 of 22 for 45.5% from the 3-point arc while Memphis struggled from the field and from 3-point (36.1% and 31.8% respectively).
For Georgia Junior Rayshaun Hammonds had a double-double 15 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Donnell Gresham Jr. has 12 points and 8 boards on 3 of 6 shooting from the 3-point arc. Georgia also brought Freshman Mike Peake off the bench to score 10 for the Bulldogs.
For Memphis, Precious Achiuwa actually looked the part as an NBA Draft Lottery Prospect with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Alex Lomax played the role of "junkyard dog" with his gritty play scoring 11 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
Memphis was without DJ Jefferies (last minute scratch due to illness). But Boogie Ellis, Damion Baugh, Lester Quinones and the Tigers couldn't collectively get it done Saturday for Memphis.
