Details of American Athletic Conference TV Deal Announced

Today on an ESPN/AAC (American Athletic Conference) teleconference some of the details of the new ESPN TV rights deal with the American were announced. Among the details that Commissioner Aresco detailed were:

- AAC Football games to be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU will increase from 26 games to 40 games beginning in 2020-21

-AAC Men's Basketball games to be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU will increase from 32 to 65 games beginning in 2020-21

-ESPN will broadcast the AAC Football Championship Game and all rounds of the men's basketball tournament (as well as multiple rounds of the women's basketball tournament)

-With streaming being the future, ESPN+ will broadcast 1,000 AAC events beginning in 2022-23 and each year thereafter during the contract

- Financial terms, while not discussed on today's conference, reportedly will be for $1-billion dollars and increase to schools (like Memphis) from $2-million to $6.94 million
